What we are for

Three things that stall a supervised contact order

The service is built around the three points where these arrangements break down.

The wait

An order made on the assumption of a long queue sits unperformed, and the parent who is waiting is the one who looks non-compliant. We have no waiting list. First visit in as little as 2 days once both parents have completed intake, subject to availability.

The report nobody can use

A report that arrives weeks later, or reaches one parent only, is worth little at the next mention. Ours reaches both parents within 3 business days.

The first visit that goes badly

A child meeting a supervisor and a parent in the same hour is a lot to ask. An optional child familiarisation session, or a meet and greet just before the first visit, means it is not also a first introduction.

How it works

Referring a client

Refer directly, or give your client our details and let them make contact. Either works.

  1. Send the referral

Call 1800 842 048 or email contact@familykonnect.com.au with the family name, the orders or the proposed arrangement, and the area.

  2. Both parents complete intake

The form is at www.familykonnect.com.au/intake-form. Once we have the other parent's email address we contact them as well; your client telling them too speeds things up.

  3. Interviews and agreement

A phone intake interview with each parent, separately, then a service agreement signed by each parent.

  4. The first visit is booked straight away

In as little as 2 days once both parents have completed intake, subject to availability. The report reaches both parents within 3 business days.

What to tell your client

Three things worth saying before they call us.

  • Both parents complete intake before the first visit is booked.
  • Send the orders, or the proposed arrangement, with the referral.
  • Decide who pays. Fees are payable in advance of each session; where an order splits the cost, each parent is invoiced their share.

The services

Where supervision happens

Visits run in four settings, chosen around the child, any conditions in the orders and how easily everyone can get there. Supervised changeovers are a separate service, booked on their own.

In the community

Parks, libraries, play centres and indoor activity venues across the fourteen areas. Most families choose these, because they feel natural to a child.

In a contact room

Where an order requires a contact centre, visits run in our room at the Pyrmont Community Centre.

In the parent's home

In the supervised parent's home, once a home safety check has confirmed the home is suitable.

Online

Video contact on Zoom for one hour, hosted by a supervisor throughout, with a full written report to both parents. For families separated by distance, or where being in the same room is not possible for now.

Supervised visits

Time between a child and a parent with a neutral supervisor present throughout, in any of the settings above. Visits run for three hours at a minimum and longer by the hour, and a report of every visit goes to both parents within 3 business days.

Supervised changeovers, a separate service

A staggered handover at a neutral venue, so the child moves between parents without the parents meeting. It is not part of a supervised visit and is booked on its own: a single changeover, or the package of both directions, with a report of each changeover to both parents.

Evidence

What every report holds

Every report goes to both parents within 3 business days.

  1. Visit details
  2. The orders, where applicable
  3. Who was present
  4. How the child presented before contact
  5. The account of the visit. Every report is a comprehensive, time-stamped account, written as the visit happens, from arrival to the final handover.
  6. A final summary
  7. 8 photos

Subpoenaed records are produced within 5 business days. The fee depends on how long we have worked with the family and is on the fees table.
